1: Althetics SS ONeil Cruz: 25 yrs old, .780 OPS, 8 SPD, 3 dWAR, S potential
The 6’6, 175 lb SS out of the DR, O’Neill Cruz, was drafted in the 2nd round of the 8.5 GBF draft (74th overall) by the Osaka Buffaloes. The loose, lefty swinger was soon after traded for a 1st round pick among other prospects as OAK management said “he fit our system perfectly”. And X amount years later, owners across the GBF can see why. The 6’6 athlete has gained roughly 30 pounds since being drafted with plenty more room to fill out for power. Cruz slashed some powerful numbers in AA last year .248/.337/.451 with an impressive 57 doubles across 131 games. While there’s a lot to look forward to with the lumber in Cruz’s hands, the defensive side of the ball is where his impact will be felt most. The OAK prospect is extremely smooth and clean in the field, FanGraphs projects him to have a 3 dWAR season or above his rookie year in the GBF. He’s a natural SS through and throughout. He also maintained a respectable .992 FLD% throughout the MiLB. The 25 year old also has very long and smooth strides on the base paths, and was a track star in high school. 2: Marlins 2B Caelyn Rios: 23 yrs old, .840 OPS, 8 SPD, +0.4 dWAR, A potential The 17th overall pick in the 12.5 GBF draft the Marlins picked the right handed batting 2B who is already GBF ready. Projected to have average to slightly above average dWAR. Rios was sent straight to AAA, after obliterating all pitching in the lower levels, where he slashed a very impressive .265/.349/.491, clobbered 80 XBH, swiped 36 bags, and knocked in 99 RBI in 144 games. He’s only 23 but scouts across the GBF think he will progress slowly but surely. Caelyn just barely made the criteria of being a prospect, and will likely be in the big leagues next season. Some scouts feel as if his power is near its peak already, although there’s still plenty of improving for Caelyn in the box. He’s been taking BP with GBF teammate 1B Logan Gilliard who has stressed going the other way, being more patient and working the count. 3: Royals SP George Klassen: 21 YO, 8.7 H/9, 7.0 K/9, 1.29 WHIP, 110 stamina, S potential Klassen was drafted in the 1st round (16th overall) of the 10.5 GBF draft by the Cleveland Indians and traded to the Royals after a season when his growth was a little underwhelming to the CLE organization. The lengthy 6’4 lefty was drafted out of UCLA as a freshman, he skipped rookie ball and dominated A ball as his pitch arsenal was too advanced. He has a plus 12-6 curveball that he can snap off with impressive accuracy, a changeup that he maintains good arm speed on, and a fastball with late life that dives down and in to LHB and sits around 94 MPH. In AA this season he posted a respectable 3.76 era and a 1.29 WHIP with a 9-2 record in 189 innings. Klassen at only 21 has an extremely high projected future, he tends to throw occasional flat changeups and struggles with fastball location, but if he can clean that up he’ll be elite by the time he’s 24-25. 4: Marlins SP Ryan Newell: 23 yrs old, 1.19 WHIP, 8.4 H/9, 8.1 K/9, Stamina 87, S potential Newell was drafted 17th overall in the 11.5 draft by the Miami Marlins who, with great help from him, have the official 2nd best farm system in the GBF. Newell showed impressive stuff and poise on the mound yet plays with a flare and intensity that is enjoyable to watch. Through his MiLB career he is 17-21 through 227 IN, had a 4.24 ERA, and a 1.19 WHIP. His athleticism was a bit of a question when drafted, as he’s out of shape and doesn’t go very deep into starts. He’s since lost some weight and seems to be improving on his stamina. The lefty from Vanderbilt wields a devastating sweeping curveball, hard slider, heavy sinker and a 93 MPH rising fastball. Newell will perform in the GBF well, the only concern is if he’ll be able to make it to the 6th inning without needing his inhaler and an ice bath. 5: Capitals SP Judah Getz: 25 YO, 8.6 H/9, 1.20 WHIP, 8.8 K/9, 120 stamina, 18 fire, S potential Drafted in the 7.5 GBF draft at 52nd overall by the Milwaukee Brewers, before they were moved to Quebec. After almost 6 seasons, Getz has progressed into one of the most promising young SP in the GBF. In AAA this season he posted an impressive 3.01 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP, and a 12-8 record across 201 innings. Getz has the tendency to miss barrels at a well above average rate with a 8.8 K/9. Judah’s fastball packs a punch sitting at 95 and at times touching 97 with some cutting moving to it, and mixes well with a circle change up, and a hard slurve that many MiLB hitters can’t handle. He has a loose, free arm that slings across his body and hides the ball very well. The 25 year old was a D1 prospect in high school for basketball, track and baseball, and chose to go with baseball full time. It goes without saying, he’s an impressive athlete and has the ability to go the full 9 innings plenty of times throughout the GBF season. His AAA season he had a 2.2 BB/9 which is acceptable, the 8.6 H/9 needs improvement if he’s going to succeed in the GBF. Getz is a hard worker and it translates in game, as he improved each season. Look out GBF, Getz is getting there. 6*: Rangers SP Chris Micheles: 22 YO, 8.6 H/9, 8.8 K/9, 1.38 WHIP, 85 stamina, S potential 7: Astros SP Britton Beard: 21 YO, 1.24 WHIP, 8.7 H/9, 8.5 K/9, 86 stamina, A potential. 8*: Diamondbacks 1B Jed Bradley: 23 YO, .795 OPS, +0.8 dWAR, 1.000 FLD%, 5 SPD, S potential 9: Rays SP Jason Savacool: 25 YO, 1.20 WHIP, 8.1 H/9, 6.0 K/9, 105 Stamina, S potential 10*: Indians RP Colten Brewer: 24 YO, 1.23 WHIP, 8.2 H/9, 9.6 K/9, stamina 33, 17 fire, S potential 11: Cardinals SP Jarred Kelley: 22 YO, 1.19 WHIP, 8.2 H/9, 5.8 K/9, 98 stamina, C potential 12: Tigers SS Michael Donadio: 20 YO, .740 OPS, .251 BA, -0.2 dWAR, 5 SPD, S potential 13: White Sox CF Hudson Haskin: 25 YO, .801 OPS, 7 SPD, 2.3 dWAR, 1.000 FLD%, 17 fire, C potential 14: Tigers 1B Jarred Kelenic: 23 YO, .760 ops, .283 BA, 3 SPD, 0.3 dWar, switch hitter, S potential 15: Orioles 3B Axel Anduelza: 21 YO, .798 ops, .286 BA, 5 SPD, +0.22 dWar, A potential 16: Mets C Jonathan Willems: 25 YO, .832 OPS, .264 BA, switch hitter, -0.2 dWAR, 3 SPD, 10 fire, S potential 17: Tigers SP Jheyson Manueta: 23 YO, 1.24 WHIP, 8.8 H/9, 6.5 K/9, 100 stamina, S potential 18*: Nationals SP Jimmy Herget: 24 YO, 1.20 WHIP, 8.2 H/9, 6.5 K/9, 103 stamina, A potential 19: Diamondbacks 3B Spencer Brickhouse: 19 YO, .278 BA, .711 OPS, .983 FLD%, -0.9 dWAR, 5 SPD, S potential 20: Giants SP Ofelky Peralta: 20 YO, 1.20 WHIP, 9.0 H/9, 8.6 K/9, 102 stamina, A potential 21: Red Sox SP Keith Roggella: 19 YO, 8.4 H/9, 1.28 WHIP, 92 stamina, 5.2 K/9, A potential. 22*: Rangers CF Nester Bautista: 21 YO, .739 OPS, .272 BA, +0.1 dWAR, 69 walks, 86 K’s, 7 SPD, 18 fire, C potential. 23: Indians 3B/LF Andrew Bechtold: 20 YO, .707 OPS, 65 walks, + arm, -1.1 dWAR, 3 SPD, S potential 24: Twins SP Helpi Reyes: 20 YO, 9.5 H/9, 2.2 BB/9, 6.9 K/9, 89 Stamina, S potential 25*: Nationals 2B Chase Strumpf: 25 YO, .797 OPS, switch hitter, +2.6 dWar, 8 SPD, U potential 26: Yankees SP Ben Morrison: 20 YO, 1.32 WHIP, 9.1 H/9, 9.3 K/9, 87 stamina, C potential 27*: Indians SP Gray Fenter: 21 YO, 1.24 WHIP, 8.7 H/9, 10.5 K/9, 91 stamina, U potential. 28: Marlins RF Wadye Ynfante: 25 YO, .271 BA, .774 OPS, 1.7 dWAR, 3 SPD, 23 fire, S potential 29: Red Sox SP Kyle Tyler: 18 YO, 9.1 H/9, 2.2 BB/9, 8.0 K/9, 94 stamina, 12 fire, A potential 30: Padres INF Masyn Winn: 25 YO, .774 OPS, .341 OBP, 1.34 dWAR, 4 SPD, A potential Honorable Mentions: Cardinals CF Conner Litton: 22 YO, .758 OPS, .366 OBP, switch hitter, 6 SPD, +0.3 dWAR, C potential Orioles C/LF Colby Fitch: 24 YO, .799 OPS, .267 BA, +0.4 dWAR, 4 SPD, C potential Twins 2B Jose Miranda: 24 YO, .794 OPS, 36 HR, +0.7 dWAR, 2 SPD, 15 fire, C potential Rangers 2B Kody Clemons: 24 YO, .769 OPS, switch hitter, .272 BA, -1.5 dWAR, S potential Diamondbacks SP Spencer Van Scoyoc: 22 YO, 9.0 H/9, 1.41 WHIP, 7.8 K/9, 96 stamina, 14 fire, S potential Padres SP Gabe Shepard: 22 YO, 1.48 WHIP, 9.3 H/9, 8.0 K/9, 94 stamina, S potential Reds 1B Luis Almanzar: 21 YO, .742 OPS, 74 walks, -1.1 dWAR, 5 SPD, S potential

Here are the official biannual Farm System rankings. 4 teams will be listed every day, beginning with #32. There will be a short description of the system, along with an overall grade and a movement up or down from where that team was in season 11.
#1 -- Detroit Tigers -- A (S-11 = 7th) WE'VE MADE IT. Tigers farm is littered with S potential players everywhere. Same strategy that led them to two straight WS wins. Kelenic and Manueta are leading the charge #2 -- Miami Marlins -- A (S-11 = 17th) Rios and Newell possible top 10 prospects, Cavaco, Chang, Ynfante look great as well #3 -- Texas Rangers -- A- (S-11 = 21st) Micheles an elite SP, Clemons a potential Silver Slugger at 2B, Oviedo an elite walk rate, a lot to like #4 -- New York Mets -- B+ (S-11 = 3rd) Willems and Hollins are going to be great, Cavalli and elite RP #5 -- Baltimore Orioles -- B+ (S-11 = 5th) Anundueza, Blair, Fitch, Williamson....so much to like, need a high end SP (just like everyone else) #6 -- Chicago White Sox -- B (S-11 = 13th) Surprised to see them this high, but all prospects are quality. None elite though #7 -- Cleveland Indians -- B (S-11 = 14th) Fenter, Brewer, Bechtold all top 30 prospects and will have an impact on big league team #8 -- Kansas City -- B (S-11 = 20th) Farm has a ton of potential, Hiura looks to be special, Rajcic also notable #9 -- Washington Nationals -- B- (S-11 = 11th) Matias and Strumpf will both have an impact soon, as well as Priester. 3 quality major league players not easy to do #10 -- Chicago Cubs -- B- (S-11 = 27th) New GM has done great work building up this farm, depth everywhere #11 -- Oakland Athletics -- C+ (S-11 = 1st) Cruz is the top overall prospect in the league, and Sears has ++power #12 -- New York Yankees -- C+ (S-11 = 4th) Top prospect Morrison looks to be special, and Stephenson is catcher of the future #13 -- San Diego Padres -- C+ (S-11 = 2nd) Padres have a lot of depth, but no real standouts. Nothing spectacular other than some leftovers from their #2 ranked system 2 seasons ago #14 -- San Francisco Giants -- C+ (S-11 = 29th) Just like MIN, SF has jumped up in the rankings. Hauver has ++ power, Peralta, Wright, and Leverett all look like solid rotation pieces #15 -- Minnesota Twins -- C+ (S-11 = 30th) Miranda will be a solid player for somebody, Reyes looks like a future #3 SP. A few guys to like here, just needs some more depth #16 -- Philadelphia Phillies -- C+ (S-11 = 12th) PHI has gone heavy on pitching prospects with some fire power arms in the draft recently. All of them are still a few years away before we will know how they turn out #17 -- Quebec Capitales -- C+ (S-11 = 6th) Similar to ARI, not much, but Getz is a future ace and thats why QUE is so high. Acton also looks to have a good future #18 -- Arizona Diamondbacks -- C+ (S-11 = 8th) Not a lot of depth here, but Brickhouse is a future superstar, Bradley has progressed nicely, and a few other decent pieces. #19 -- Port-au-Prince Liberators -- C+ (S-11 = 19th) This is where we start getting into the more quality systems. Lopez should be a good offensive player, and Espino a good pitcher. Decent system but could use more #20 -- Tampa Bay Rays -- C (S-11 = 10th) Rays have dropped as they've been going all out in recent years, but Savacool keeps this farm system afloat, along with some depth players too #21 -- Houston Astros -- C- (S-11 = 22nd) Only have one prospect, but he is a future ace #22 -- Toronto Blue Jays -- C- (S-11 = 18th) Albert looks to be a future everyday player, and a few lottery ticket SPs #23 -- Cincinnati Reds -- C- (S-11 = 23rd) A few bright spots here, specifically SP Sherrod and 1B Almanzar, but overall needs some more depth #24 -- St. Louis Cardinals -- C- (S-11 = 24th) Collins being groomed as C of the future, great arm; Litton, Soriano, Kelley could be decent in future #25 -- London Lions -- D+ (S-11 = 25th) Izturis looks like a solid player in the future, which is the only reason they are this high #26 -- Boston Red Sox -- D (S-11 = 28th) A few lottery ticket young SPs, but not much to like here #27 -- Los Angeles Angels -- D- (S-11 = 15th) Safe to say LAA's focus is on the WS, not farm system right now #28 -- Pittsburgh Pirates -- F (S-11 = 26th) One prospect, a RP without much promise. ML team is competitive though #29 -- Colorado Rockies -- F (S-11 = 32nd) Only here because they technically have one prospect, a RP who will go nowhere #30 -- Osaka Buffaloes -- F (S-11 = 9th) No prospects, team in contention #31 -- Seattle Mariners -- F (S-11 = 16th) No prospects. GM changes and at the start of a rebuild #32 -- Los Angeles Dodgers -- F (S-11 = 31st) Not a single prospect, impressive The Dbacks fight back from down 3 games to 0 to stun Marcus Brady and the Angels in 7 games, capturing the first World Series Title for Arizona and sending the people of Phoenix into the streets with jubilation. After 11 playoff appearances, it finally came together for the Dbacks; Sweeping the Pirates in Round 1, taking down the heavy favorites Quebec in R-2, and taking down the evil empire of Cleveland in R-3 before shocking the Angels and baseball world down 3-0 in the WS to come back and win.
Is Marcus Brady being replaced? 5th year starter and fellow former number one overall pick Junior Santos out-dueled the future HOFer Marcus Brady to bring the title to the desert. After four straight CY seasons (and possibly a 5th this season), are we seeing the beginning of the end for the league's first overall pick ever? Time will tell, but what we do know is he will be sticking around LAA for a little longer as the Angels have placed their franchise tag on him. Most competitive playoffs yet? The Dbacks just became the first wild card team to win the World Series, and just the second to even reach the World Series (S-3 Mariners). 3 of the 4 Wild Card teams got past the first round, with Detroit being the only one to fail. This shows that Wild Card teams are stronger than ever, and unless you are fortunate enough to be in a weak division, you are going to need to have a near 100 win team to reach the playoffs right now 1.
